Bonus terms decoded: a checklist for any offer

Bonus terms are written to be complete, not to be easy. The good news is that almost every casino uses the same set of clauses in a slightly different order, so once you know what to look for, an offer can be checked in about five minutes. This page is that checklist. It describes how bonus terms are typically structured — Boomerang's actual wording is published by the operator, and when it differs from anything here, the operator's text applies.

The checklist

EligibilityNew players only, one per household, country restrictionsA bonus claimed while ineligible can be removed later

Clauses people skip — and regret

"Irregular play"

Many terms contain a broad clause against bonus abuse: switching between very low and very high bets, playing only certain features, or opening several accounts. The wording is usually vague on purpose. The practical lesson: keep a steady stake, stay below the maximum bet and play normally.

Feature buys and gamble buttons

Buying a bonus round or using a double-up feature may be excluded while a bonus is active, or may not count towards wagering. If the terms mention them, treat them as off-limits until the requirement is complete.

Verification before payout

Bonus winnings are paid only to verified accounts. Expect to provide identification and proof of the payment method before the first withdrawal.

Reading order that saves time

  1. Wagering base and multiplier — calculate the total.
  2. Contribution of your favourite games.
  3. Maximum bet and deadline — calculate spins per day.
  4. Maximum cashout and excluded methods.
  5. Everything else.

Illustrative example, not Boomerang's terms: an offer with 40× wagering on deposit plus bonus, a 7-day deadline and a 3-unit maximum bet, on a 100-unit deposit with a 100-unit bonus, requires 8,000 units of bets — at 3 units per spin, about 2,670 spins, or roughly 380 spins a day. Most people stop reading at "100% bonus"; the useful information starts in line three.

Keep a copy

Before you activate an offer, save the terms as a screenshot or PDF with the date. If a dispute arises later, the version you accepted is the one that matters, and promotions pages are updated without notice. More on calculation in the wagering guide; for offers without a deposit, see no-deposit bonuses; for code-based offers, see promo codes.

Bonus terms FAQ

Which part of the bonus terms should I read first?
Start with the wagering base and multiplier, the maximum bet, the deadline and the list of excluded games or payment methods. Those four or five lines decide most outcomes; the rest is usually procedure.
Are the general bonus terms different from the offer terms?
Often there are two layers: general bonus rules that apply to every promotion, and specific terms for one offer. When they conflict, the specific terms usually say which takes priority. Read both.
Can the operator change the terms after I accept a bonus?
Terms usually reserve the right to change or withdraw promotions. Whether a change affects an offer you already activated depends on the wording. Take a screenshot of the terms on the day you activate a bonus, so you know what you agreed to.
What is a sticky bonus?
A sticky bonus can be used for play but is never paid out itself; when you withdraw, the bonus amount is deducted and only the rest is paid. It is different from a bonus that converts into cash after wagering.
